We had an enjoyable time reading big books with a partner or in a small group. We read familiar books and new books, as well as imaginative and factual texts. We liked working with friends to read.
What a great way to end Term 1 and bring on the holidays!
Last week we celebrated Harmony Day.
We understood it was a day to promote belonging, understanding and unity.
We decorated symbols of peace and hung them in our beautiful garden learning area.
We read every day!
We read as a whole class, we read with a partner, by ourselves or we listen to our teacher read.
It is entertaining, exciting and imaginative, and helps to build our writing, spelling and speaking skills.
I am very excited to welcome K/1 Daintree students to the Bright Bunch blog!
Here you will find links to learning games and songs to support what we explore at school.
We will also post updates of our class and what we are learning about, to promote home-school relationships.
Stay tuned,
From Miss S
Homework for Stage 2 has finished for the term.
Homework books will be marked and soon returned to families.
Banks students – keep reading your own books at home and revise your reading and comprehension skills. Reading is for life!
The photos say it all! Fun, smiles and friendship ruled the day when each class had a chance to explore and play on the new equipment in area 6.
The community has eagerly awaited the opening of the new playground. We discussed safety protocols and how to use each piece of equipment respectfully and carefully.
Afterwards we brainstormed the experience and wrote explanations about how to use the new equipment.
A lot has been happening in our class – it was been a wonderful, busy and exciting term!
Last week we had a visit by a class pet…have you heard of Phasmatids? They are stick and leaf insects and we had 2 in our classroom! They stayed very still but we saw them eating Eucalyptus leaves verrrryyyy slowly! You can see us observing them in the photos below.
We also began a challenging but rewarding series of lessons surrounding decimals. Our understanding has really improved and we are able to see the application of decimals in every day life, such as money, distance, temperature and so on.
Last Friday was also an important day – it was Remembrance Day. A day to commemorate and think of the many people who have fought in Wars and have died in the line of duty. We had a special ceremony in the school hall.
We are proud to announce that last Friday, our class won the assembly shield.
We were most outstanding in following the Shine Guide and by being engaged and respectful audience members.
Congratulations Banks!
